We’re a new kind of home furnishing store (well, in the UK at any rate). When we started in Denmark in 1974 we decided to have a different set of values.

Yes, we wanted to make a profit but not at any cost. We wanted to create a company that treats its staff, suppliers and customers with fairness and honesty. And more than that, we wanted to become known for it.

We value our people
They are the ‘face’ of our company. They make our service what it is. It costs nothing to smile and be helpful but the difference it makes is beyond measure.
Recruitment of the right people is critical. We are, therefore, delighted that our creative and people-focused approach to recruitment was recently recognised at the prestigious Retail Week Awards where we won the 2007 Retail Week Innovative Employer Award. The award acknowledged ILVA’s expertise as a European retailer with a proven HR strategy aimed at engaging and retaining talented individuals.

We’re proud of our stores
We have never, and will never, operate from those large warehouse-type stores. We want our stores to be modern and elegant. We want them to be relaxing and a pleasure to be in. After all, we’d like you to come back.

We know what value is
Lots of home furnishing stores seem to have a sale on all the time (which makes you wonder if their furniture really is such a bargain). Instead of having sales, we make sure that our prices are as keen as they can be all year round. There are times when we clear older ranges, but it’s hard to slash prices that are already outstanding value.

We’re dedicated to good design
We are constantly on the look out for new ideas. Some of them don’t make it to the shop floor, but plenty do. Even our existing furniture doesn’t escape this attention. Can this be made stronger? Can that be made better? Denmark has always been at the forefront of innovative design and it’s a tradition that we are proud to continue.

We know that the world doesn’t need another home furnishing store. But it could always do with a better one.
