We recommend thorough cleaning with a cloth soaked in soapy water and wrung out.Plastic wicker, rattan, natural wicker and other plant fibres
Cane furniture is normally painted, stained or lacquered. It should be cleaned with a damp cloth (demineralised water) or vacuumed. There are no particular care instructions unless the furniture is standing in a very dry room.
Use specialised oils or wipe the furniture over with a damp cloth (soapy water). Don’t forget to do the back which is often untreated. If the furniture is not used in the winter, it should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated room.
Treatment with specialised oils i.e. linseed oil or turpentine, prevents the formation of mould and fungus during storage. Specialised oils can also be used for general care and can be good at removing shoe polish stains etc. Soapy water and oil treatment should not be combined.
